October FFO Meeting

Please join us for our October Sayre FFO meeting on Wednesday, October 1 at 6pm in the school auditorium.

Meet other Sayre families and find out how parents can make Sayre great. Kids can attend with their parents, but must bring something quiet to do. (Homework?)

We will be…

  • taking nominations for FFO Secretary (you’re welcome to nominate yourself!),
  • planning a Halloween Bowling Night,
  • looking for someone interested in helping the school with event communications, and
  • discussing next steps for a grant we were awarded.

We need your input and helping hands!

Sayre FFO 2014-15 Officers

At our April 8 meeting, the Sayre Family and Friends Organization held elections for next year’s FFO council. All positions were uncontested and filled:

President: Lisa Daleiden-Brugman
Vice President: Naima McDermott
Secretary: Denise Graziano
Treasurer: Jack Lesniewski (Not present, accepted verbally)
Communications: Bryan Bedell
Parent Patrol: Yolanda Vargas (Not present to accept the nomination, will be addressed at the May meeting.)

New officers take charge over the summer. Congratulations to the new officers, and many thanks to outgoing officers, notably our current president Jan Mahaffey, who has been a cornerstone of the FFO for many years, we all hope she’ll continue to stay involved in the future!

The complete minutes are available on the “Meetings” page.

February FFO Meeting

This month’s FFO meeting has been moved to Thursday evening (Feb 13) at 6pm at the school, directly preceding the regularly-scheduled Local School Council meeting.

The FFO will be discussing Spirit Week and other events. Please bring and share your ideas!

Speaking of the LSC, Local School Council elections are coming up on April 7 (also Parent-Teacher Conference day). If you’re interested in an LSC position, applications are due (in person) to the Office of LSC Relations, 125 S. Clark St., Suite 502, by next Wednesday, February 14, or to the school directly by Wednesday, February 26. Most schools are facing a shortage of applicants, while that’s not usually a problem at Sayre, we’d all like to see a variety of candidates running and offering a variety of choices, right? More info on positions, requirements, and the application process are right here.

Panera Shop & Share and FFO Meeting

panerabreadbrushedblocklogo28229Wednesday, Jan 15th, 2013, join other Sayre families at Panera Bread, 7330 W North Ave in Elmwood Park for another shop & share opportunity. A portion of proceeds from your order will go to Sayre Language Academy. You must turn in the flyer (download) for Sayre to get credit for your order!

We’ll also hold our January FFO meeting at Panera Wednesday night from 6:30pm – 7:30pm. Instead of a meet and greet we will meet and eat! The more the merrier! Come on out and support Sayre!

Tuesday: Report Cards and FFO Meeting

photoRemember, students will not attend school Monday (Veterans’ Day) or Tuesday, which is Report Card Pick Up. Meet with your child’s teacher at the appointed time (between 11am-3pm and 3:45pm and 6pm). Then please stop by The Sayre Family and Friends Organization table (near the office) and submit your info for the student directory, learn more about the FFO, or volunteer for upcoming events. We’ll also have our monthly FFO Meeting Tuesday night after Report Card Pickup (6pm) at the school, we’d love to see another great turnout like last month!

Here are some upcoming events, please consider volunteering!

Shifts throughout the school day. Please include hours of availability in your response. More details coming soon.
  • FAMILY READING NIGHT, Thursday, November 21st

We also need help manning the FFO table between 11am-1pm, 1pm-3pm, 3:45pm-4:30pm, or 4:30pm-6pm. If you can help with that, or wish to get involved and can’t attend Report Card Pick Up or the FFO meeting, please contact Jan Mahaffey.
