Sayre LSC Candidate Forum

Sayre Language Academy will hold a Local School Council candidate forum this Thursday, March 20, at 6pm in the auditorium. Parents, staff, and the community are all encouraged to attend, and also to vote in the LSC election on Monday April 7th (also Parent/Teacher Conference Day). More info from CPS.

(Also remember, Sayre Family and Friends Organization elections will take place at the FFO meeting the Tuesday night following the LSC elections)

Tuesday: Report Cards and FFO Meeting

photoRemember, students will not attend school Monday (Veterans’ Day) or Tuesday, which is Report Card Pick Up. Meet with your child’s teacher at the appointed time (between 11am-3pm and 3:45pm and 6pm). Then please stop by The Sayre Family and Friends Organization table (near the office) and submit your info for the student directory, learn more about the FFO, or volunteer for upcoming events. We’ll also have our monthly FFO Meeting Tuesday night after Report Card Pickup (6pm) at the school, we’d love to see another great turnout like last month!

Here are some upcoming events, please consider volunteering!

  • SAYRE WALKATHON, Friday, November 15th
Shifts throughout the school day. Please include hours of availability in your response. More details coming soon.
  • FAMILY READING NIGHT, Thursday, November 21st
Shifts: 4pm to 5pm (set up)
5pm to 6pm (Helping with activities)
6pm to 7pm (Helping with activities)
    7pm until finished (clean up)

We also need help manning the FFO table between 11am-1pm, 1pm-3pm, 3:45pm-4:30pm, or 4:30pm-6pm. If you can help with that, or wish to get involved and can’t attend Report Card Pick Up or the FFO meeting, please contact Jan Mahaffey.

Report Cards, “State of the School,” & International Night Volunteers

aplusReport cards will be distributed at parent-teacher conferences on Wednesday April 17 between 11:00am-3:00pm and 3:45pm-6:00pm. There will be no classes Wednesday. Teachers tend to get backed up right at the end of the day, so it’s always a good idea to come as early as possible (but not during the 3-3:45pm lunch break). The school is hoping to achieve a 100% pick-up rate.

Along with report card pickup, the school is hosting three “State of the School” sessions to update parents about student assessments, testing, performance, and how they relate to grade level preparedness and high school options. The three sessions will be: 12:30—1pm, 12:15—2:45pm and, 4:45—5:15pm

Also on Wednesday, visit the FFO table for info about this year’s International Night (Wednesday, June 5). Grab a flyer, and find out how you can help out by volunteering your time to help with setup, serving, or cleanup at the event, donating food or supplies, or donating a raffle prize. This year will feature a 50/50 raffle and we’ll also be raffling off a variety of fantastic gift baskets. Proceeds will help the FFO to support the school. Watch this site for more International Night info coming very soon.
