The Sayre LSC has a vacancy for a parent representative. Parents of Sayre students can submit applications at the school on or before Wednesday, December 17 and attend the LSC meeting on Thursday, December 18. More info can be found in the letter from the school (bilingual PDF).
Please join us this Tuesday, December 9 from 6pm-7pm for our monthly FFO meeting at the school. All are welcome! (Note that it’s Tuesday this month, not Wednesday!)
We will discuss plans for the new year, including Math and Science Night. FFO is a great way to be involved, to be informed and to be an influence at your child’s school!
Kids are welcome to tag along, but they are not allowed to vote (well, maybe, if we need a tiebreaker) and should bring something quiet to do.
CPS’ 2014-15 School Progress Reports are out, with a new rating system (1+, 1, 2+, 2, and 3 replace 1-2-3). Sayre retained their Level 1 rating. Congratulations to the students, teachers, staff, and families for all the hard work, let’s shoot for the 1+!
This Sun-Times story explains the changes fairly clearly.
The weather was just warm enough and the heat in Sayre School was certainly blasting for our first of hopefully many Family Volunteer Days on Saturday, November 22nd. Along with Ms. Moore, Ms. Exarhos, Ms. Watson, Ms. U, Ms. Bistany, 42 Sayre parents, students, and friends sorted books, raked leaves, fixed raised beds, picked up trash, helped organize classroom materials, and organized kitchen supplies. This Volunteer Day was supported by generationOn and the Disney Foundation. Many thanks to all the parents and students who turned out, to the teachers and administration of Sayre (Ms U and especially Ms. Watson), to Naima McDermott for putting together a delicious and ample lunch and to FFO leadership for facilitating! Stayed tuned for a spring service event!
We also thank Jack for organizing the event and applying for the grant!
